Marceline will square off against Scotland County at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Thursday, Marceline needed a bit of extra time to put away Trenton. They won by a run and slipped past the Bulldogs 7-6. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Tigers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Cody Rodgers made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI.

Meanwhile, while Scotland County put up some runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Paris. The Tigers blew past the Coyotes 10-0. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won three matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
Like Marceline, Scotland County also got a great game from a two-way player: Vincent Dale. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. Dale also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Scotland County is 3-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 2-3 otherwise. Dale was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.
In other batting news, Logan Buford was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Marcus Smith, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Scotland County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Scotland County has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Marceline, their win bumped their record up to 7-10.
Marceline couldn't quite finish off Scotland County when the teams last played back in May of 2024 and fell 4-2. Will Marceline have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
