Mountain House is 8-2 against the Spartans since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The pair will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mountain House has 12 straight wins, the Spartans have three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
In what's become a running theme this season, Mountain House gave their fans yet another huge victory on Saturday. They blew past Atwater 62-41. Given Mountain House's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 195th, while the Falcons are ranked 429th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Shamar Jones continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Assefa, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Lathrop lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on on Saturday was a bit more commanding. They were dealt a 78-51 loss at the hands of Bear Creek. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lathrop in their matchups with the Bruins: they've now lost three in a row.
Mountain House has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. As for Lathrop, their loss dropped their record down to 8-17.
Everything went Mountain House's way against the Spartans when the teams last played back in January as the Mustangs made off with a 63-40 victory. Will Mountain House repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
