The Southwest Patriots will head out on the road to face off against the Toombs County Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Southwest got themselves on the board against Central, but Central never followed suit. They breezed by the Chargers on the road to the tune of 37-0. Southwest might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won four games by 28 points or more this season.
Southwest's success was spearheaded by the efforts of James May, who rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries, and Chase Dupree, who rushed for 39 yards and a touchdown. Southwest also got help from Steve Robinson who showed off his sure hands for 102 receiving yards.
Southwest's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. Leading the way was Rinaldo Callaway and his 2.5 sacks.
Meanwhile, Toombs County strolled past Vidalia with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 31-14. Given Toombs County's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 105th, while Vidalia is ranked 244th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Among those leading the charge was Dabvn Wadley, who rushed for 68 yards and two touchdowns.
The win (which was Southwest's third in a row) raised their record to 6-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.7 points per game. As for Toombs County, they have yet to lose a game on the road this season, leaving them with a 9-1 record.
