If The Branchville Yellow Jackets were feeling good off their 43-22 takedown of the Bethune-Bowman Mohawks last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Branchville ended up on the wrong side of a tough 27-6 walloping at the hands of Lamar on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 43 points in the game before, Branchville couldn't push the score so high this time.
Zori Pierce was a one-man wrecking crew for Lamar as he rushed for 172 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries, and also threw for 63 yards and a touchdown. Pierce's longest rush was for an incredible 88 yards. Travion Mcphail and his 138 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Lamar's victory.
Branchville has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Lamar, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-3.
Branchville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Lamar will be playing in front of their home fans against Carvers Bay at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Carvers Bay is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
