It was a good run, but The Minersville Battlin' Miners unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 35-28 to Schuylkill Haven. Minersville was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Schuylkill Haven apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Minersville's loss came despite strong showings from Dante Carr and Luke Stevenosky. Carr rushed for 93 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries, while Stevenosky rushed for 121 yards and two touchdowns. Stevenosky is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last nine games he's played.
Niko Carestia continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Schuylkill Haven, rushing for 195 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.1 yards per carry. Carestia's longest rush was for an incredible 74 yards.
Minersville's defeat dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Schuylkill Haven, their victory was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Minersville will take on Nativity BVM at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Nativity BVM will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last. As for Schuylkill Haven, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Blue Mountain at 7:00 p.m. Blue Mountain is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
