St. James Academy faced Hayden in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Thunder came up short against  the Wildcats, falling  3-0. The Thunder were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their  loss the last time these teams played  back in October of 2015.
 The match was exciting from start to finish, as two sets needed extra rallies to gain a two-point lead. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-25, 25-17,  26-24.
 Mya Lee paced St. James Academy's offense, picking up 13 kills. Lee got some help from  Ellen Dorsey and her 30 assists.
 Hayden was led to victory by  Reese Huscher and  Kinzley Waggoner.  Huscher  had 13  digs and three  aces, while  Waggoner  had seven  digs and two  aces. Those  three  aces gave  Huscher a new career-high.
St. James Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 24-10. As for Hayden, they are  on a roll lately: they've  won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-8 record  this season.
As of now, neither St. James Academy nor Hayden have any future games scheduled.
