It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Stanton Blue Devils had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Raiders a 5-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for Stanton, who have now won seven matchups by four goals or more so far this season.
They were led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Courtney Brown and
Emma Griner, who scored all five of Stanton's goals. The pair have combined for a total of 46 so far this season.
The win (which was Stanton's third in a row) raised their record to 12-5-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 16 goals over those three games. As for Santa Fe, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7-2.
Stanton will be playing in front of their home fans against Bishop Kenny at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bishop Kenny has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 25 goals over their last three matches. Santa Fe does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
