The Roosevelt Roughriders and the Green Mountain Rams squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but sadly the Roosevelt Roughriders had to settle for second. The match between the pair wasn't particularly close, with the Roughriders falling 40-21. They were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Green Mountain apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2022.
Roosevelt's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Bronco Hartson, who threw for 284 yards and three touchdowns, and Noah Lucero who picked up 110 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Green Mountain was led to victory by George Soppe and Blake Weslin. Soppe rushed for 145 yards and a touchdown on only five carries, while Weslin rushed for 127 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries. Weslin's longest rush was for an incredible 75 yards.
Roosevelt's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-3. As for Green Mountain, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.
Roosevelt does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Green Mountain will be playing at home against Lutheran at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given how much these teams ran up and down the field in their prior games.
