Valley View is 0-8 against the Bulldogs since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Valley View Tigers will look to defend their home court against the McAllen Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Valley View is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
Last Friday, things could have been worse for Valley View, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 58-43 loss to the Raiders. Valley View has not had much luck with the Raiders recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Meanwhile, McAllen unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Tuesday. They received a tough blow as they fell 56-42 to Vela. While losing is never fun, McAllen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 343rd, while the Sabercats are ranked 124th).
Despite the loss, McAllen had strong showings from Mario Villegas, who scored 12 points, and D'aundre Canada, who scored ten points.
Valley View has been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 15 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-23 record this season. As for McAllen, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 22-10.
Valley View suffered a grim 72-51 defeat to the Bulldogs when the teams last played back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Villegas, who scored 17 points along with eight assists and four steals. Now that Valley View knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
