Brighton is 8-2 against Skyline since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Bengals will take on the Eagles at 12:00 p.m. The last four games Brighton has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Brighton is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Alta just ended the team's 19-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 10-8. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Bengals, who until this contest were averaging 2.36 runs allowed.
Easton Fry made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Scott, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.
Meanwhile, Skyline waltzed into their game on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the Panthers. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won ten matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
Jack Jaggi made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Skyline: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 8-10 otherwise.
In other batting news, Abe Wilson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Nico Wharton was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Skyline was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are 9-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Skyline's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-10. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Brighton, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 17-1 and their overall record down to 19-3.
Saturday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Brighton hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .353. However, it's not like Skyline struggles in that department as they've averaged .319. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Brighton took their victory against Skyline in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 20-3 score. Will the Bengals repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
