The Edison Tech Inventors are taking a road trip to square off against the School of the Arts Silverhawks at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Thursday, Edison Tech earned a 5-2 win over Early College. That's two games straight that the Inventors have won by exactly three runs.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last contest, School of the Arts made sure to put some runs up on the board against Franklin on Thursday. The Silverhawks blew past the Bulldogs 15-5. The result was nothing new for the Silverhawks, who have now won seven games by nine runs or more so far this season.
Jack Wingert made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, School of the Arts got a big performance out of Paul Alex Stevens II, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. The Silverhawks are undefeated when Stevens II posts two or more runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Bruce Newton, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
School of the Arts' victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Edison Tech, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-13.
Edison Tech might still be hurting after the 13-3 loss they got from School of the Arts in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Inventors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
