Jack Berendes made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Jackson Gerson looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Brecken Worthington and Hudson Schraad did most of the damage at the plate: Worthington went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base, while Schraad went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI Schraad has posted since back in April.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Widefield). They put the hurt on Palmer with a sharp 20-3 victory on Monday. The Gladiators might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Braeden Mitton, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.
Widefield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of 1.000. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Evergreen's record is now 17-6. As for Widefield, their record now sits at 17-5.
Widefield's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Evergreen has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .462. It's a different story for Widefield, though, as they've only averaged .358. Will they be able to contain Evergreen's hitters?
