The South Central Falcons waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They enjoyed a cozy 71-53 victory over J.H. Rose. Given South Central's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while the Rampants are ranked 228th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading South Central to victory were Isaiah Godley and Ean Behm. Godley scored 14 points, while Behm scored 17 points along with two steals. Behm is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Troy Loftin was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds.
J.H. Rose's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Justin Grimes, who scored 19 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Malachi Green, who scored 12 points along with five assists and two steals.
South Central pushed their record up to 15-1 with that victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for J.H. Rose, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-9.
South Central will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for J.H. Rose, they will head out on the road to challenge the Monarchs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
