Lanier is 1-0 against Jackson County since October of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Lanier Longhorns will be playing at home against the Jackson County Panthers at 7:30 p.m. The timing is sure in Lanier's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while Jackson County has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
Last Thursday, Lanier humbled Apalachee with a 42-13 victory. The result was nothing new for Lanier, who have now won three contests by 21 points or more so far this season.
Preston Ratliff looked great while leading his team to the win, throwing for 237 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Jameson, who picked up 100 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Jackson County at home against Shiloh two weeks ago as the team secured a 36-7 win.
Jackson County relied on the efforts of RJ Knapp, who threw for 73 yards and a touchdown, and Mj Spurlin, who rushed for 107 yards and a touchdown.
Their wins bumped Lanier to 6-2 and Jackson County to 4-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Lanier has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 186.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Jackson County struggles in that department as they've been even better at 200 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Lanier beat Jackson County 21-14 in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Does Lanier have another victory up their sleeve, or will Jackson County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
