Even though the Babcock Trailblazers have not done well against the Donahue Catholic Shamrocks recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Babcock snuck past the Shamrocks with a 39-35 victory. Winning may never get old, but Babcock sure is getting used to it with their ninth in a row.
Babcock found their leader in underclassman Jameson Habing, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Habing has scored at least a third of Babcock's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Allen, who scored two points along with ten rebounds and seven assists.
Several Shamrocks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Erling Berg, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and two blocks. Berg is crushing the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Isaac Loboda, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Babcock now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Donahue Catholic, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-3.
Babcock will take on the Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Florida (The Classical Academy of Sarasota is ranked 688th, while the Trailblazers are ranked 671st). As for Donahue Catholic, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the King's at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th.
