Two dominant signal callers in Tyler Messer and Jaxon Hunt are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Herriman Mustangs will face off against the Mountain Ridge Sentinels at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Herriman comes in on three and Mountain Ridge on eight.

Felisi Felipe had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 104 yards and three scores on only 11 carries. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 53 yards. Tate Love also helped out with an impressive 110 receiving yards.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Herriman proved: they limited Weber to a paltry one yards per carry. The team can thank Troy Ellermeier for the heroic effort on defense: he. Herriman didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 8.7.
Meanwhile, Mountain Ridge faced Riverton in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Sentinels took down the Silverwolves 35-21. 35 seems to be a good number for the Sentinels as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Herriman better keep an eye on Kohen Cunningham. He was instrumental in Mountain Ridge's win, picking up 109 receiving yards and one touchdown. Cunningham's receiving production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 109 receiving yards.
Mountain Ridge didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off six passes before the game was over. Cutler Whitaker led the group effort, picking up three of those interceptions all by himself. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Herriman's record now sits at 10-1. As for Mountain Ridge, their record is now 9-2.
The upcoming game will be a clash of competing strengths. Herriman has deployed a run-first offense that has averaged 194.9 rushing yards a game. Meanwhile, Mountain Ridge has preferred to attack from the air: they average 333.8 passing yards per game. So which strategy will prevail on Friday? There's only one way to find out.
Herriman lost to Mountain Ridge on the road by a decisive 24-8 margin when the teams last played back in October. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
