If the Southern Wayne Saints were feeling good off their 52-4 takedown of the Smithfield-Selma Spartans last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Southern Wayne was dealt a 59-8 loss at the hands of Fike on Friday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Southern Wayne has scored all season.
Wilberline Senatus was Southern Wayne's leading scorer, having posted four points.
Fike's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jewel Brewington led the charge by scoring 21 points. Brewington hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. Emory Skinner was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Southern Wayne's loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Fike, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-3.
Southern Wayne will head out on the road to square off against C.B. Aycock at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. C.B. Aycock is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Fike will take on Hunt at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Hunt's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matchups.
