Lewis & Clark recap November 13, 2013
Westran extended the longest winning streak in Lewis & Clark this week by beating South Shelby, 56-7. The win marks 12th in a row for the the Hornets.
Paris lost to Westran 63-12 last week, the largest margin of any game. Kyle Popkes was a bright spot for the Coyotes, as he threw for 111 yards and 1 touchdown in the defeat.
Marceline's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Blake Linebaugh threw for 140 and 2 touchdowns and Jared Best had 63 yards receiving. On the ground Blake Belzer chipped in 130 yards. Dakota Lewis helped Marceline's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 57 yards.
The Tigers' dynamic duo of Linebaugh and Best proved tough for Salisbury to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Lewis helped Marceline's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 57 yards.
Paris' Popkes and Slater Stone have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-0 quarterback Popkes has thrown for 2,661 yards this season, while Stone has 71 catches for 1,192 yards. Curtis Jasper's team's Zane Jacoby leads the league in rushing yards with 1,489.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Marceline takes on the Hornets. Paul Thomas' team is currently in third, while Westran is in first.
There should be lots of points scored when the Tigers and the Hornets face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Marceline comes in having scored 408 this season, while Westran has scored 536. The Tigers scored 28 points last week as they topped the Panthers.
Marceline made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 8,737 from 9,238. The advance stemmed from a 28-9 victory over Salisbury last week.
