The Wasco Tigers will venture away from home to take on the Frontier Titans at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
It was a proper cat-fight when Wasco faced off against McFarland on Thursday. Wasco never let McFarland get on the board and left with an 18-0 victory. With that win, the Tigers brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.
Cedes Saldana was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time she hasn't allowed a single hit since back in March of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Wasco let Abby Salazar and Jazzy Juarez run wild. Salazar scored three runs while going 3-for-3, while Juarez went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs Salazar has posted since back in March of 2024. Emma Gomez also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Wasco hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Frontier entered their tilt with Lemoore on Wednesday with three consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Tigers 9-2. With that victory, the Titans brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.
Baden Conley made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Conley was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ryleigh Garcia, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Charley Hawkins, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Frontier pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Wasco, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-5-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Wasco has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Frontier struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
