It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Rutherford Rams had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They really took it to the Bulldogs for the full four quarters, racking up a 69-19 victory on the road. The win was familiar territory for Rutherford who now have 21 in a row.
Rutherford found their leader in underclassman Ka?nahla Hayes, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. It was the first time this season that Hayes pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ayonnie Houston, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and six steals.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was LeeAsia Johnson, who scored six points.
Rutherford's win bumped their record up to 23-1. As for Taylor County, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-13.
Rutherford will square off against Godby at TBD on Friday. Godby is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Taylor County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
