It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Berry Wildcats can now relate to. They took a 37-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers on Saturday. Berry has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Berry lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Maggie Mauldin, who almost dropped a triple-double on ten points, 17 rebounds, and nine steals. Mauldin has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Rylee Hill was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds and five blocks.
Calhoun found their leader in underclassman Alivia Mason, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. It was the first time this season that Mason pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of JaMiya Fleeton, who scored two points along with 12 rebounds and three steals.
Berry has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-20 record this season. As for Calhoun, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-14.
Berry does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Calhoun also has no future games currently scheduled.
