The Socorro Bulldogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 15th straight loss. They took a serious blow against Eastwood, falling 58-23. While losing is never fun, Socorro can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 957th, while the Troopers are ranked 123rd).
Despite the loss, Socorro still got an impressive performance from Nataly Dominguez, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Amaya Williams was her usual excellent self, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals for Eastwood. Williams hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Victoria Duran, who scored four points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Socorro's loss was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-22. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.5 points per game. As for Eastwood, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 22-5 record this season.
Socorro will head out on the road to take on the Aztecs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Eastwood, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Rams at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Montwood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday.
