The Live Oak Acorns put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They strolled past Oak Grove with points to spare, taking the game 28-10. Given Live Oak's advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 256th, while Oak Grove is ranked 700th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Luke Newell threw for 144 yards and two touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes. Tanner Holeman was his top target, picking up 66 receiving yards and a touchdown. On the ground, Josh Gagni rushed for 90 yards and a touchdown.
Live Oak's win was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 8-0. As for Oak Grove, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-6.
Live Oak will head out on the road to face off against Christopher at 7:15 p.m. on November 3rd. Christopher knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Live Oak likes a good challenge. As for Oak Grove, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Santa Teresa at 7:15 p.m. on November 3rd.
