The Patrick Henry Patriots will head out on the road to face off against the Bonita Vista Barons at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Patrick Henry has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with three straight losses, while Bonita Vista will come in with nine straight victories.
Last Thursday, Patrick Henry lost to San Diego at home by a 50-35 margin. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 584th, while the Cavers are ranked 136th).
The losing side was boosted by Deshawn Jones Jr., who went 5-for-9 on his way to 10 points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Sami Tabar, who posted five points.
Meanwhile, Bonita Vista didn't have too much trouble with Otay Ranch on Thursday as they won 61-42. The Barons pushed the score to 45-22 by the end of the third, a deficit the Mustangs cut but never quite recovered from.
Patrick Henry better keep an eye on Aaron Owens. He was instrumental in Bonita Vista's win, dropping a double-double with 21 points and ten rebounds. What's more, Owens also posted four assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Isaiah Diaz was another key player, going 5-for-10 en route to 11 points.
Bonita Vista pushed their record up to 20-8 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.4 points over those games. As for Patrick Henry, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-19.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Patrick Henry has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 33.4 boards per game. However, it's not like Bonita Vista struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.4 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
