The Shrewsbury Colonials will face off against the Groton-Dunstable Crusaders at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. Shrewsbury is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
On Thursday, Shrewsbury beat Nashoba Regional 3-1.
Shrewsbury was especially dominant in the fourth set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 18-25, 25-17, 25-13.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Groton-Dunstable's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wachusett Regional.
Groton-Dunstable was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Wachusett Regional work for it, especially in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 19-25, 25-16, 25-17.
Shrewsbury's win bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Groton-Dunstable, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Monday's matchup: Shrewsbury has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 13.8 aces per game. However, it's not like Groton-Dunstable struggles in that department as they've been averaging 13.1 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything went Shrewsbury's way against Groton-Dunstable in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as Shrewsbury made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Colonials since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
