Softball Game Preview: Redwood Giants vs. Terra Linda Trojans

Redwood is 9-1 against Terra Linda since March of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 4:30 p.m. Redwood is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

The home team had come away the winner the last three times Redwood and Archie Williams had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Giants put the hurt on the Peregrine Falcons with a sharp 15-0 victory last Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Giants, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.

Ava Brown was a standout: she scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Elle McElreath, who scored four runs while going 2-for-4.

Redwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Terra Linda was not able to break out of their rough patch last Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against San Rafael, falling 15-1.

Redwood pushed their record up to 9-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Terra Linda, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.

Redwood beat Terra Linda 4-1 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Do the Giants have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
