The University Trailblazers will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Lapel Bulldogs at 12:00 p.m. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
On Thursday, University came up short against Bethesda Christian and fell 48-37. University has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite their defeat, University saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Charlotte Conyers, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and two steals, was perhaps the best of all. Conyers hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenzie Feeney, who scored four points along with five blocks.
Meanwhile, Lapel unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 57-44 to Pendleton Heights.
Despite the defeat, Lapel saw an underclassman step up: Laniah Wills dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. Madelyn Poynter was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five assists and four steals.
University's defeat dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Lapel, their loss ended a 11-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-4.
University won a contest that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, slipping by Lapel 51-50. Does University have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lapel turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
