The Dunellen Destroyers will head out on the road to square off against the Calvary Christian Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dunellen will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings (they are ranked 337th, while the Lions are ranked 143rd).
Last Saturday, in a tight game that could have gone either way, Dunellen made off with a 45-44 victory over the Zebra. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Dunellen.
Dunellen's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ryan Hutchins, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Hutchins is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games he's played. Joel Cruz was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five assists.
Meanwhile, Calvary Christian strolled past the Patriots with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 55-41.
Dunellen has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 10-9 record this season. As for Calvary Christian, they pushed their record up to 15-2 with that win, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Dunellen might still be hurting after the 64-40 loss they got from the Lions in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can Dunellen avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
