The Morning Star Academy Mustangs will head out on the road to take on the Tri-State Christian Huskies at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Morning Star Academy's game last Friday was all tied up 19-19 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. The game between Morning Star Academy and Galesburg Christian wasn't particularly close, with Morning Star Academy falling 45-27. Morning Star Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Allison Ammann, who scored 12 points. Violet Jewell was another key contributor, scoring four points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Tri-State Christian, who are still winless after their fourth match. They were dealt a 41-8 loss at the hands of Unity Christian on Thursday.
Tri-State Christian's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Alice Udelhofen, who scored no points along with seven steals, and Makayla Zelle who scored four points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Udelhofen grabbed two or more steals.
Morning Star Academy has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Tri-State Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
Tuesday's contest is shaping up to be a scrappy matchup: Morning Star Academy have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 22.1 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Tri-State Christian, though, as they've been averaging only 25.8 rebounds per game. Given Morning Star Academy's sizeable advantage in that area, Tri-State Christian will need to find a way to close that gap.
Everything came up roses for Morning Star Academy against Tri-State Christian in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 52-6 victory. With Morning Star Academy ahead 36-0 at the half, the match was all but over already.
