The Troy Flying Horses will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Bethlehem Central Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Troy is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
Troy suffered their biggest loss since December 12, 2023 on Monday. They were the victim of a rough 77-54 loss at the hands of Saratoga Springs. While losing is never fun, Troy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 484th, while Saratoga Springs is ranked 198th).
Despite the loss, Troy saw an underclassman step up: Stetson Merritt scored 23 points. Kayne Behan was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Bethlehem Central beat Niskayuna 59-54 on Friday.
Troy has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. As for Bethlehem Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
Troy came up short against Bethlehem Central in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 77-65. Can Troy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
