The Camden County Bruins were the 51-50 winner over the Hertford County Bears when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Camden County took a 65-50 bruising from Hertford County on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, Camden County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 460th, while Hertford County is ranked 109th).
Camden County lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Xzavior Wiggins, who scored 11 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of J'ron Pendleton, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Leading Hertford County to victory were Rimiez Williams and Keveon Rodgers. Williams scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, while Rodgers scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rodgers has scored all season. Jayden Robinson was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Camden County has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. As for Hertford County, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Camden County will square off against Holmes at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Holmes has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Hertford County, they will head out on the road to challenge Manteo at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Manteo is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
