The West 50th Street Seahawks will head out on the road to square off against the Bergtraum Blazers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. West 50th Street knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully Bergtraum likes a good challenge.
West 50th Street posted their closest victory yet this season on Friday. They had just enough and edged Norman Thomas out 74-71. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Meanwhile, Bergtraum unfortunately witnessed the end of their 11-game winning streak on Thursday. They were dealt a 59-0 defeat at the hands of Percy Sutton. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Bergtraum came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while Percy Sutton is ranked 395th).
West 50th Street's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Bergtraum, their loss ended a eight-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-1.
Everything came up roses for West 50th Street against Bergtraum in their previous meeting back in February of 2015 as the squad secured a 82-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for West 50th Street since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
