Football Recap: Beaumont Piles Up the Points Against Shadow Hills

Beaumont won against Rancho Mirage on Tuesday with 51 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Saturday. The Cougars simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Shadow Hills Knights 51-16. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won seven contests by 25 points or more so far this season.

Beaumont's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tessa Martinez, who threw for 164 yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 57 yards and one score. Another signal caller making a difference was Laylene Fontes, who threw for 88 yards and three touchdowns.

Beaumont's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB eight times. Shadow Hills' QB won't forget Kiera Houston anytime soon given she sacked her six times. Houston also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 11. Another thorn in Shadow Hills' side was Shelby Keels, who picked up a sack and made six total tackles in addition to snagging an interception which she returned for a touchdown.

The win (which was Beaumont's third in a row) raised their record to 8-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.7 points over those games. As for Shadow Hills, they moved to 3-2 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Beaumont didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 28-12 win against Norco on the 18th. As for Shadow Hills, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 31-0 victory against Palm Desert on the 18th.
