The Central Spartans entered their tilt with the Brawley Wildcats with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Central walked away with a 14-7 win over Brawley on Friday. 14 seems to be a good number for Central as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nico Viesca, who rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Brawley to a paltry 93 rushing yards and 67 passing yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Central's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out four times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Jared Martin and his two sacks.
Central is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Brawley, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-3.
Central will be playing at home against Eastlake at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Brawley, they will head out on the road to face off against Bishop's at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bishop's is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games.
