The West Holt Huskies will take on the Pleasanton Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
West Holt is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Sandhills Valley 61-6. With the Huskies ahead 48-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.
West Holt found their leader in sophomore Gabriel Monasterio, who rushed for 51 yards and a pair of TDs, and also caught one score.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something West Holt proved: they limited Sandhills Valley to a paltry 2.4 yards per carry. The team can thank Lane Keogh for the heroic effort on defense: he. West Holt's run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 2.93 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 4.5 on average over their last five games.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Pleasanton, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. Everything went their way against South Loup on Thursday as they made off with a 58-36 victory. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with South Loup recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
West Holt better keep an eye on Brennan Lindner. He was instrumental in Pleasanton's win, rushing for 84 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 11 carries, while also throwing for 132 yards and two TDs. Braxton Eilenstine was another key player, gaining 74 total yards and two touchdowns.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Pleasanton, racking up 12 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Maddox Boyd, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
West Holt's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-4. As for Pleasanton, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.
Things could have been worse for West Holt, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 49-30 loss to Pleasanton when the teams last played back in October of 2024.
