The Lake Country Lutheran Lightning will venture away from home to take on the Whitewater Whippets at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Lake Country Lutheran has given up an average of 9.2 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Things were looking good for Lake Country Lutheran after they put the first run on the board on Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell 11-6 to Catholic Central. The loss continues a trend for the Lightning in their meetings with the Hilltoppers: they've now lost six in a row.

Grace Sonnleitner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and five unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Aliza Uttech and Kierstyn Black did some serious damage despite the final result: Uttech got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base, while Black went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double. Uttech has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Katelyn Meulendyke was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Whitewater ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out Lakeside Lutheran 8-6. That's two games straight that the Whippets have won by exactly two runs.
Whitewater saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sydney Schilt, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Taiya Kolb also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Whitewater has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Lake Country Lutheran, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
