Anela Kinnevey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, JW North let Audrina Camacho and Lily Hiraoka run wild. Camacho went 3-for-4 with five RBI, one run, and one double, while Hiraoka scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-4. Camacho has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Xochitl Frias, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
JW North was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in six consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Serrano got the win against Arroyo Valley on Friday by a conclusive 16-6. The result was nothing new for the Diamondbacks, who have now won four matchups by nine runs or more so far this season.
Sam Conan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Conan was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 4-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jamie Motley, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-3. Wendy Arauz was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
The win got Serrano back to even at 5-5. As for JW North, their record now sits at 6-4.
JW North took their victory against Serrano in their previous meeting back in February by a conclusive 10-2. Will JW North repeat their success, or does Serrano have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
