On Monday, the Morgan County Cougars's game was all tied up 19-19 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 44-31 victory over East Carter. For Morgan County, this counts as revenge for the 47-42 loss the Raiders walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.
Several Raiders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Savannah Adams, who scored 13 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Hall, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Morgan County's win bumped their record up to 7-10. As for East Carter, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Morgan County is on the road again on Wednesday and plays the Tomcats at 7:30 p.m. on January 31st. Blazer is coming into the match hot, having won their last nine games. As for East Carter, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Irish at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. St. Joseph Central presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Raiders in their respective states (the Irish are ranked 39th in West Virginia, while the Raiders are ranked 132nd in Kentucky).
