After three games on the road, Mart is heading back home. They will take on the Cumby Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Mart took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 72-6 win over Hubbard. Given Mart's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 246th, while Hubbard is ranked 1180th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Jd Bell, who rushed for 123 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries. Bell was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 55 yards. Another player making a difference was Ethan Hocking, who gained 85 total yards and a touchdown.
Cumby can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They breezed by Clarksville at home to the tune of 50-20. The victory was just what Cumby needed coming off of a 64-20 loss in their prior game.
Cumby's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chett Vaughan, who threw for 144 yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Dakari Johnson, who rushed for 114 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries.
Mart's victory was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 43.38 points. As for Cumby, their victory bumped their record up to 3-7.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's contest: Mart commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 6.3 touchdowns per game.
