The Notre Dame Green Knights will head out on the road to challenge the North Haven Nighthawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Notre Dame comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Notre Dame is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Law on Friday. The Green Knights were just a hair shy of victory and fell 28-27 to the Lawmen. While the Green Knights had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Lawmen 13-7.
Despite their loss, Notre Dame saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Luke Miklos, who rushed for 188 yards and one TD, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Joe Capasso, who threw for 112 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 91.7% of his passes.
Meanwhile, North Haven faced Cheshire in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Nighthawks strolled past the Rams with points to spare, taking the game 35-21. The Nighthawks haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Notre Dame better keep an eye on Artie McCormack IV. He was instrumental in North Haven's win, rushing for 180 yards and four scores on only 12 carries. That's the most rushing touchdowns McCormack IV has posted since back in October of 2024. North Haven also got a significant boost from Bret White, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 80 yards.
North Haven was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 314 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 207 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
North Haven's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Notre Dame, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Notre Dame has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 147.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like North Haven struggles in that department as they've been averaging 290.5 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Notre Dame barely slipped by North Haven in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, winning 21-20. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Green Knights since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
