The Kennedy Eagles will head out to face off against the Two Rivers Warriors at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Kennedy's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Two Rivers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Kennedy is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 20 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Visitation on Thursday. They fell just short of the Blazers by a score of 2-1.
Kennedy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ohara Workcuf, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
Two Rivers came out on top against Tartan on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run second inning. The Warriors put the hurt on the Titans with a sharp 10-4 victory. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won four matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Grace Reetz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Kaylee Rall was excellent, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That double was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dani Shields, who went 2-for-5 with two runs.
Two Rivers was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .459. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Two Rivers has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Kennedy, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-2.
Two Rivers' hitters will have their work cut out for them on Saturday. Kennedy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Two Rivers, though, as they've been averaging only 3.9 strikeouts. Will Kennedy keep running through batters, or will the Warriors buck the trend?
Kennedy couldn't quite get it done against Two Rivers in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 8-4. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
