Nation's longest 11-man high school football win streak ends at 51

With a 45-14 win Friday over Appleton West, the Kimberly Papermakers extended their win streak to 49.

So much for scheduling tough.

Valle Catholic (Ste. Genevieve, Mo.) coach and Athletic Director Judd Naeger did just that and now the nation's longest 11-man football win streak is over.

Frankly the game wasn't all that close.

Lamar (Mo.), the five-time reigning Class 2 state champion, got two long touchdown passes from Stuart McKarus to Luke Hardman to help defeat host Valle Catholic 50-13, ending a 51-game win streak on Saturday.

The longest 11-man win streak in the country now belongs to Kimberly (Wis.), which owns one of the fiercest mascots in all the land, the Papermakers. With a 45-14 win over Appleton West on Friday, Kimberly (7-0) has won 49 straight. The Papermakers have outscored opponents 300-54 this season.

Valle Catholic (6-1) will go for its fourth-straight Class 1 title this season and be stronger after the loss, Naeger said. The team's last loss was 60-34 to Penney in the 2012 Class 1 state title game.

"Our kids found out a lot about themselves today," Naeger told Matt King of the Daily Journal.

Lamar is now on a 28-game win streak.

The longest streak in the nation belongs to an 8-man team, Pahranagat Valley (Alamo, Nev.), which has won 98 games in a row.
