Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Elgin). They walked away with a 10-6 victory over the Ridgemont Golden Gophers on Monday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Comets needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Madison Hill made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off ten hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Maycee Muselin was excellent, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3. She also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season. Emilie Bishop was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.
The win snapped Elgin's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-8 record. As for Ridgemont, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Elgin will take on rival Cory-Rawson at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Ridgemont is set to face off against their familiar foe Perry at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
