Baseball Recap: Manchester Starts Season with Win at Home

Manchester took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Saturday. They blew past the LaVille Lancers 15-2. The victory continues a trend for the Squires in their matchups with the Lancers: they've now won four in a row.

Reiss Gaerte and Ethan Hendrix did most of the damage at the plate: Gaerte scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Hendrix scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Hendrix a new career-high in RBI (three). Brendyn Mugford was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

LaVille dropped their record down to 2-3 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Manchester didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 15-5 win against Caston on the 12th. As for LaVille, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 10-0 victory against Elkhart Christian Academy on the 15th.
