Baseball Recap: Greenway Makes It Three in a Row on the Road

Greenway put their dominant pitchers on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Monday. They never let the Tempe Buffaloes get on the board and left with an 11-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Demons, who have now won five contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Greenway let Carlos Toscano and Dylan Archuleta run wild. Toscano went 1-for-2 with one home run, three stolen bases, and two runs, while Archuleta scored two runs and stole five bases while going 3-for-3. Greenway is undefeated when Archuleta posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-6 otherwise. Thaddeus Newman also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Greenway always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .545 or higher in five consecutive matchups.

Greenway pushed their record up to 6-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Tempe, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-9.

Looking ahead, Greenway will take on Moon Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Demons are facing the Rockets at the right time seeing as the Rockets are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Tempe, they will face off against Coronado at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Dons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.58 runs per game on average), something the Buffaloes will no doubt try to take advantage of.
