The Sharyland Rattlers lost against the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North Raiders back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Sharyland took a 41-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North. Sharyland has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Sharyland's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Mariajose Campos, who scored eight points along with nine steals and seven rebounds, and Tristianni Cantu who scored nine points. Campos is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Bargas, who scored four points along with five rebounds.
Leading Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North to victory were Madison Stanfield and Alexandra Gonzalez. Stanfield scored 14 points along with eight rebounds, while Gonzalez scored 15 points along with five steals. Gonzalez has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Josephine Sanchez, who scored six points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Sharyland has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-22 record this season. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North, they now have a winning record of 17-16.
Sharyland will head out on the road to square off against McAllen at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully McAllen focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Tuesday. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North, they will be playing at home against Valley View at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Valley View comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 21 points in their last 14 games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
