The Rockford East E-Rabs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 12th straight loss. They were outmatched by Boylan Catholic on the road and fell 62-21. Rockford East was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-12.
Several E-Rabs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aubree Erickson, who scored six points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Rockford East struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Boylan Catholic racked up 20 assists.
Boylan Catholic was led to victory by Lilian Esparza and Kaylee Harter. Esparza scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Harter scored 15 points along with two steals. That's the first time this season that Harter scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Alayna Petalber, who scored 12 points along with five assists.
Rockford East bumped their record down to 2-14 with that defeat, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.3 points per game. As for Boylan Catholic, the win was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-2.
Rockford East will be playing at home against Guilford at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Guilford has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Boylan Catholic, they will head out on the road to challenge Harlem at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Harlem will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 260th, while Boylan Catholic is ranked 54th).
