AA District 15 recap Oct. 23, 2012
Kingsbury was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in AA District 15.
Jordan Spencer and Jamal Jones gave Trezevant a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Spencer threw for 40 yards and one touchdown, while Jones ran for 153 yards. Spencer also contributed to the rushing game with 53 yards on the ground.
Joshua Jones made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Bears topped Dyer County. The 6-foot-1 senior grabbed two sacks.
Marico Williams was the best wideout in the league this week as Manassas defeated Memphis Academy of Health Sciences. Williams tallied two receptions for 30 yards. Melvin Bond helped Manassas' passing attack out by catching one ball for two yards.
Thanks to the talents of Jordan Pegues and Bond the Tigers have been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Pegues leads the league in passing with 630 yards, while Bond has rushed for 1126 yards this season. The Falcons' Derrick Hankins leads the league in receiving yards with 285 on 22 catches.
Jones of the Trezevant is only 65 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Jones has rushed for 935 yards on 106 carries so far this year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Manassas takes on Raleigh-Egypt. Carl Coleman's team is currently in second, while the Pharaohs are in third.
The Tigers led AA District 15 in scoring this week after putting up 52 points on Memphis Academy of Health Sciences. Bond ran for 101 yards in the win.
