It was a good run, but the Chancellor Chargers unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell to Courtland 45-41. Chancellor was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
Chancellor lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Cash Dodson, who scored nine points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Larell Edwards, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Chancellor struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Courtland got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Roderick Magee out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. Anthony Jones was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Chancellor's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Courtland, they pushed their record up to 13-5 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chancellor will challenge the Cavaliers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Caroline's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four games. As for Courtland, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on January 31st. Mountain View will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 323rd, while the Cougars are ranked 146th).
