Pope John Paul the Great added to the longest winning streak in VISFA Freelance this week by beating Trinity Episcopal, 55-34. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Wolves.
Portsmouth Christian fell to Norfolk Academy 50-8 last week, the largest margin of any game. John Pope was a bright spot for the Patriots, as he in the defeat.
Andrew Latrash threw for 253 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was 15-23 with 1 interception.
Zak Perroots was a force in the backfield as Pope John Paul the Great beat the Titans.
Latrash put up the best numbers through the air as Bishop Ireton lost to Paul VI. Latrash's favorite target this week was Drew Smith, who caught 6 passes for 175 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, the Cardinals' Latrash and Smith have proven to be a lethal combination. 5-11 quarterback Latrash has thrown for 1,155 yards this season, while Smith has 37 catches for 513 yards. Perroots from Jerry Sarchet's team leads the league in rushing with 1,078 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Portsmouth Christian takes on Broadwater Academy. As it stands, Marcus Cutler's team is in seventh, while the Vikings are in first.
